Posting Guidelines:

This is a moderated group so messages will be screened for appropriate content before being approved. Please:

  • Keep messages short and clear. Limit abbreviations as this is a global audience. Use a specific subject line.

  • Do NOT send messages with graphics, attachments, requests for employment or employees wanted. Such messages will be deleted.

  • If you post a message and want responses, ask Listserv members to Reply directly to you, not the entire group. After you receive responses, consider posting a summary on the Listserv. You might want to form a small group with others to share your specific interest.

  • You may post a message in both English and another language; the number of Listserv members who speak more than one language is increasing rapidly.

Not getting messages? Try these solutions:

  • Repeat the Join instructions above. Make sure to REPLY to the join confirmation email, NOT click the blue button.

  • You will not receive a copy of the messages you post. You may view previous messages to check if your message was posted.

  • If you use a Google account for the Listserv, you may need to change your Delivery Settings to "Email (about 1 per day)".

  • Messages may be going to your spam folder. Add omahasystem@googlegroups.com to your Contacts or Address Book to prevent messages being marked as spam.

  • Your email service provider may be blocking all mail from Google Groups. If your email address has been disabled or blocked so you cannot receive messages, communicate with your IT staff or Internet provider and ask them to unblock your email address.

Purpose of the Listserv

The purpose of the Listserv is to share information directly relevant to Omaha System users and those interested in the Omaha System, not general information. Typically, 4-6 messages are posted on the Listserv each month. Please encourage others to join the Listserv and participate. Consider sending messages to the Listserv about the following:

  • What questions do you have about the Omaha System after you read the information on this Website?

  • Are you scheduling Omaha System refresher sessions for your colleagues; increasing the reliability, validity, and usability of your data; or improving the use of your software?

  • What strategies have you used successfully to teach, implement, and maintain accurate and consistent use?

  • Are you using outcomes data to help your board members, funding sources, accreditors and surveyors, and general public understand your successes?

  • How are you solving the clinical data-information puzzle?

  • Are you in touch with others in your area employed in similar and different practice, education, and/or research settings? Collaboration across settings is a great way to increase the extent and quality of Omaha System use.

  • Are you organizing a relevant conference, meeting or workshop? Speaking or sharing a poster? Tell readers how to obtain more information.

  • Have you written a relevant article or chapter? Read one that others may find useful?

  • Have you released new Omaha System software or a significant upgrade? Do you have news to share about issues related to the Omaha System that will impact your customers?

  • What announcements or news can you share?
